Just a quick interesting tidbit today from Leviticus. We read about the right of atonement. In eat, two goats are sacrificed. One is killed and is offered in the normal fashion. However, the other is taken by the priest, who lays his hands on it. Then he recites all the sins of Israel and places them onto the goat. The goat is then taken out into the wilderness and is freed. Whether it lives or dies the action removes the sins from nation of Israel. This is the origin of the concept of a scapegoat, or someone / something onto which you can shift blame from yourself.
